Prior to establishing Terra Solar, David was a partner with Ion Equity, a Dublin based private equity firm. During his time with Ion, David and his partners acquired SWS, a wind energy business with 70 megawatts (MW) in operation and subsequently raised €400 million to fund rapid expansion of its operations. SWS was sold to Bord Gais in 2009 with 180MW of operational wind farms and 465MW in development. Other transactions at Ion involved the creation of Topaz, Ireland’s largest petrol station operator through the acquisition and merger of Shell and Statoil’s forecourt businesses in Ireland. David has also been a leading investor in and director of SolarPrint, a third generation photovoltaics R&D technology business. He holds a Ph.D and first class honours degree in physics from Trinity College Dublin.
André began his career as a financial analyst with Morgan Stanley in London before becoming a vice president with US private equity firm Apollo Real Estate Advisors (since acquired by Ares Management) where he held responsibilities for investments and asset management in Western Europe. He returned to Ireland in 2005 as the Property Director of Crownway Investments, a Dublin based real estate and private equity firm. Prior to establishing Terra Solar with David, he was also a leading investor and director of SolarPrint, a third generation photovoltaics R&D business, and acted as CEO of the business during 2013/14. André holds a Masters in Management from ESCP Europe and a degree in Economics from Trinity College Dublin.
